Ramen Review

A running review on vegetarian/vegan noodles in a cup or in a package. First of all to have these noodle dishes in my hand is divine! Exclamation mark.

I'm writing this on Saint Patrick's Day 2020 pre-'bunker down at home' in my city. The shelves here are bare, I have a stash of food for two weeks. I have a stash of vegetarian food. Blank, I am blessed. I'm worried that I won't have a paycheck after April 5th. We soldier on nevertheless. If my sobriety has taught me anything just get through the day. Blank, I am blessed. Thank you, Kesha.
  • Dr. McDougall's Vegan Ramen Chicken Flavor - take 1. 2 balls/5 balls.
The noodles were chewy and had a weird texture.
  • Dr. McDougall's Vegan Hot and Sour ramen - flipping 4 balls/5 balls.

Where did this fastball come from? The secret was that I heated it and left it standing for 2 hours. I was also hungry, hangry, hungry. I usually don't like "hot and sour".  It wasn't in the "hot and sour" category of Chinese food. There was a slight vinegar taste to it. Whatever. I thoroughly enjoyed it greatly. Thank you Doc.

April showers bring May flowers. So I need to stock up on ramen while I can. I have two vegetarian/vegan items left and then an animal product ramen package. Hmmmm? That's for dire circumstances. Ha, people will think ramen in a cup is already a dire circumstances.

Post city wide shut down, shelter at home in effect. You ever heard 'Bye & Bye/Saints' by Gregg Stafford and Dr. Michael White? Get through the day.... "Yippee-ki-yay*..."

  • Dr. McDougall's Vegan Ramen Chicken Flavor - take 2.

My initial score was 4.6. It isn't a 4.6 ramen. Upon a day and a half of review I've decided to go with 3.4. Sorry, Doc. Again if you are hungry this tastes a lot better.

  • Greenoodle Miso flavor.

Greenoodle with one "N". The expiration date is 2/15/2020. Today's date is 3/27/20. I've been eating a lot of expired food. (Like: Cheese that expired 3/7/20 and it was two weeks past the expiration date. It didn't taste so great. I have a box of macaroni and cheese that expired October 2019 and it's currently March 2020. I can't think of anything else. Oh, well.) I haven't cooked it yet (the ramen package), but I'll have to get over the noodles being green. It's vegan and contains no MSG. The noodle package contains moroheiya leaves. I don't know if I've ever had moroheiya before. I think I put too much water. The soup base isn't strong, the moroheiya leaves looked like kelp but not as chewy, and the green leaves weren't as green as I thought it would be. I added firm tofu, a hard boiled egg, pepper, and green onion to the soup. Not bad. It hits the spot. I'm going to go with 3.9.

*You say that a lot. It's from Die Hard, 1988.
