Vocé tem choro

A person sobs and questions God in Portuguese, this has been going on for hours. The rain doesn't stop them nor does the crawling of light that brings forth morning. Mourning. My neighbor suffered a stroke sometime during the night.  He refuses to see the doctor, he refuses to leave his room. He wants to die. A priest comes to visit him.  I bring my neighbor food for his family and flowers. They place the flowers outside his locked bedroom door.  I leave a note, for him, a quote that I found. "You cannot be healed while you hold on to pain, you must let it go, so that your heart is free to embrace love again". - @TheGodlight Jul 3, 2014.

I do not think the quote will do much justice. His heart is gone and quite possibly his mind. In bed with sorrow, sadness and disbelief. The world has set it's eyes on his country and he crumbles in shame. Demons circle their chariots. It is as if the drumming, dancing and spirit has vanished. Brazil has left Brazil.

I walk to church.  I see a jersey on the ground. It is caked in mud and partially ripped. I pick the jersey up and wipe the mud off.  I recognize the name on the back of the jersey.  I take it with me. A souvenir from the ashes.

I walk towards the church where I attend Noon Mass. I enter it's doors and scoop up holy water from a fountain. I will bring the collected water with me and give it to my neighbor. All of the candles at church are lit.  I say a prayer in front of Saint Mary and Saint Joseph.  "Protect us", I whisper. Outside of church, a man next to me says it is as if his lover has left him. I told him he will find a new lover.

After the match a television interpreter called the rain the "Tears of the Gods". My friend told me to be careful just in case a riot started. I packed some belongings into a backpack just in case I had to leave my apartment.  I also made sure to stock up just in case I was trapped in my neighborhood. I have enough food and supplies for a week.  I bought a new video game to keep me occupied. In case the electricity is cut off I also bought three new books.  I wasn't prepared for something like this, no one was. I just thought wisely. I like being prepared. The music will return again someday. For now it is quiet and dark.
