Parasol, a song ballad

V1: Enter the haunted house, the fun house
carnival barker in the middle
tent collapse blanketing everything and nothing
round and round on the merry go round
passing along water for elephants

Chorus: You don't get to call me names
you don't get to call me anything
he's a P.O.S. a-word
you can quote me on that
I'm so glad you don't belong here anymore

V2: I waited for high tide to plan my escape
waterline erased my footprints
utter disdain for you guided me home
doorman won the over/under pool
banishing you to Tallahassee

V3: Love can move mountains
hate destroys planets
I threw your pole in the lake and called it a day
no looking back at baggage claim

Chorus: You don't get to call me names
you don't get to call me anything
he's a P.O.S. a-word
you can quote me on that
I'm so glad you don't belong here anymore
(bridge) you couldn't handle this even if you tried
I was beautiful before you told me so (and still am)

V4: No doormat, no catch-22
no loose change to pocket
no silent prayers in the darkness
white lace parasol blocked the sunlight
and it sure made me look good

Chorus x2

Notes:
Chorus idea 2: He's a P.O.S. a-word
you can quote me on that
I'm so glad you don't belong here anymore
never doing this again until the next one shows up
and I'll write him a song or two (or three), he gets the better song
he gets the better everything
